Phase3D (Formerly Additive Monitoring Systems) has been awarded a phase I STTR contract to advance Additive Manufacturing in-situ monitoring technology for aerospace component production.
November, 2022 — AFWERX, a Technology Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and the innovation arm of the Department Air Force selects Phase3D for a phase I STTR to demonstrate in-situ monitoring capabilities. This selective open topic contract win propels the advancement of in-situ monitoring technology for metal 3D printing (additive manufacturing) to enable on-demand aerospace component product at scale.
Argonne National Laboratory will support this effort as a subcontractor, having a close history with Phase3D via a long-lasting Cooperative Research and Development Agreement which began in 2021
Phase3D’s Project Fringe monitoring system has seen exceeding adoption not only in research environments such as Argonne, Oak Ridge, Northwestern, and University of Louisville but also in end-use applications such as the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex, and a major metal 3D printer OEM (who remains unnamed).
This annoucenemtn follows a chain of high profile contract wins including a 2-year contract with the US Air Force, a strategic collaboration with NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, and continued support from the Department of Energy’s Advanced Manufacturing Office. Phase3D is ecstatic to continue innovations to push the AM industry towards capturing more of the overall manufacturing market.
